AMERICAN HELLENIC PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY
SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS AND APPLICATION
APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY:
1. A current member of the family (father, mother or grandparent)
in the AMERICAN HELLENIC PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY in good standing for a minimum
of three years.
2. A high school senior or recent high school graduate with a declared major
or minor in the area of Hellenic Studies.
3. An undergraduate, attending an accredited college or university, or
community college.
4. A college/university graduate seeking higher level degrees.
5. Applicant will exhibit scholastic excellence and maintain a minimum of
3.5 GPA (based on a 4.0 GPA).
6. Meet college admission requirements.
7. Show evidence of leadership and citizenship in school and community.
A COMPLETED APPLICATION WILL CONSIST OF:
1. An official transcript sent from high school(s) or college(s).
2. A letter of recommendation from a faculty member; should include his/her
name, address, e-mail address and telephone number.
3. A recommendation from an outside source, other than a relative, who is
acquainted with the applicant.
4. A typed personal essay, of no more than 500 words, describing the
applicant’s educational goals and interest in Hellenic Studies.
5. A copy of letter of matriculation from the university or college must be
sent to the AMERICAN HELLENIC PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY.
6. Two wallet-size recent photos. (Non returnable).
Complete and mail the official application to the Scholarship Chairperson,
American Hellenic Professional Society, P. O. Box 19028, Sacramento,
California 95819-6028,
postmarked no later than May 1, 2009.
The Scholarship Chairperson will notify the recipients by letter by July 1,
2009.
