Spring is the beginning of new life. Snow melts, flowers bloom, and baby animals are born. This makes spring the perfect time of year to photograph the Grand Teton National Park. The snowcapped peaks of the mountains serve as a glorious backdrop to the colorful wildflowers and newborn animals. Renowned wildlife photographer Henry Holdsworth will take you on a journey through the Park to photograph spring’s renewal of the land.
Rising out of the vibrant scenery of Wyoming, the Teton Mountain Range is a sight to behold. After learning more about the local wildlife, you will begin photographing Schwabacher’s Landing, a prime location for capturing mountains reflecting in the Snake River. This trip will provide ample opportunity to photograph the mountains at both sunrise and sunset, capturing a rich canvas of color.
Spring is the best time to photograph wildlife in the Tetons, and you will not be disappointed. Bears, elk, moose, coyotes, pronghorns, and foxes are only a few of the animals you will have the chance to photograph, with many accompanied by their young, and photographing the free-roaming Jackson Hole bison herd is a real treat.
Henry Holdsworth is an expert in photographing the wildlife of the Grand Teton National Park. With his extensive knowledge, you will learn where, when, and how to take the best photographs possible of this amazing landscape. Register early – this workshop is limited to eight participants.

Locations
Some of the locations we may visit:
- Schwabacher’s Landing: Perfect for landscapes, moose, waterfowl, great blue herons, and beaver.
- Pilgrim Creek: Popular for wildlife and photographing the Teton Range with a foreground of lupine.
- Jackson Lake: Many wonderful areas for landscape and wildlife, and also exploring the overlooks at the top of Signal Mountain which is excellent habitat for mule deer, moose, and blue grouse.
- Oxbow Bend of the Snake River: Incredible reflections of Mount Moran. The Oxbow is not only a great landscape location but also a wonderful habitat for moose, elk, bears, and white pelicans.
- Moose-Wilson Road: A great place to search for moose and beavers as well as bears at the Rockefeller Preserve. We may also photograph aspen trees and waterfalls.
- Gros Ventre River: This river habitat is home to the largest concentration of moose in the park and it is possible to see cows, calves, and bulls in this area. We will also check for owls, mountain bluebirds, and trumpeter swans in the area.
- Elk Ranch Flats: The perfect place to look for elk, bison, pronghorn, and wolves.
- Mormon Row: Home of the famous and historic Moulton Barns. A great place to work the landscapes at sunrise and hopefully find ourselves in the middle of the Jackson Hole bison herd shortly after the sun comes up. There should be plenty of orange baby bison bouncing along to entertain us.
- The fields of Antelope Flats: An ideal place to look for pronghorn fawns, sage grouse, and long-billed curlews. There’s a possibility we may also capture coyotes, elk, and wolves in this area.
Strenuous Rating: Moderate
We will have a few short hikes up to a 1-mile round-trip both on and off-trail. The ground may be soft from spring thaw so appropriate footwear is essential. Our days are long as we will be continually searching out wildlife between our iconic landscape shoots. Wildlife does not show up on demand, so patience and diligence are required. Henry knows the best locations for viewing wildlife.
