From the vastness of the Grand Canyon to the sweeping vistas of Monument Valley, Arizona is home to some of North America’s most amazing landscapes. Legendary for its timelessness, beauty and history this all-encompassing, Southwest landscape photography workshop brings all of it to you in one amazing trip. Join Navajo photographer LeRoy DeJolie as we venture to Sedona, Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Slot Canyon, Monument Valley and Canyon de Chelly.  Deadline to register – February 21, 2019.

Registration deadline: February 1, 2019

From the magnificent Grand Canyon, to the sweeping vistas of Monument Valley, the Southwest has many of North America’s most amazing landscapes. The beauty and history of this land is a photographic treasure. Journey with Navajo photographer, LeRoy DeJolie as he guides you through the most iconic locations of Arizona on this Southwest landscape photography workshop, much of which is on his native home land.

Our trip begins in the red rocks of Sedona. Red Rock Crossing offers an excellent view of famed Cathedral Rock with a meandering stream and lush groves in the foreground. You will be able to photograph there from late afternoon through sunset. Throughout the changing light, LeRoy will show you on best settings and exposure for the perfect capture. The following morning we will be up early for a stop at Slide Rock State Park where you will photograph the slippery natural water slide as it careens through the rocks. Then we are off to Flagstaff where we will break for lunch.

Of course, no southwestern tour would be complete without a visit to the Grand Canyon. Natural light creates a spectacular show as it dances on the layered rock. LeRoy will share his tips and techniques for capturing the play of light on the canyon walls for both our sunset and sunrise shoots.

Next, we travel northeast to Page, Arizona where we will photograph the beauty of Horseshoe Bend, the Toadstools and Secret Canyon. In the Secret Canyon you will photograph sandstone formations that were carved by wind and erosion and offer a rainbow of colors lit by narrow beams of light. The twisting walls and unique light can make slot canyons difficult to photograph, but Leroy will show you how to use these elements to get great images.

Monument Valley is another treasure of the west that we will photograph on our journey. We will visit the most recognized Monument Valley viewpoints — North Window, John Ford Point, Artist’s Point, and the Mittens. We will also photograph the spindly, towering Totem rock formations at sunrise.

From Monument Valley we travel to Canyon De Chelly, the ancient home of the Navajo where we will photograph scenic images along the rim at Spider Rock. The following morning we will take a half-day tour of the ancient ruins in the Canyon.

Come along for the trip of a lifetime as we explore the Southwest’s greatest wonders. You will improve your photographic skills and come home with breathtaking photographs.
