If you’re like me, when you see wildlife your first reaction is to pull out the telephoto lens and try to get close-ups of the animal. Sometimes I am so focused on homing in on the animals that I forget to take a step back and look at the big picture. I was recently on the Arizona Highways Photo Workshop in the Grand Tetons, where we photographed many animals. The Tetons is a beautiful area, and the mountains, trees and bodies of water can make a wonderful backdrop for wildlife photography.
Sunset is a wonderful time to incorporate the landscape into your wildlife images.
If you really take the time to look around, you might even find some interesting ways to include the landscape in your photos.
Don’t forget about the big picture!
